Open Season

During the Heavy Gear 4e RPG Kickstarter, we promised 2 seasons of adventures. The idea was that each season would release with 3 adventures, allowing them to be worked on in batches. Based on the information available to us at that point, the project was going to wrap up in early 2025, allowing us to move on to other things in a reasonable timeframe.

A year and a half later, here we are. Thanks to a combination of events, some of which should have been expected (such as The New Breed remaster ballooning in size to become the longest Heavy Gear adventure ever, even with the Southern campaign abridged and the Leagueless campaign entirely excised for the time being) and some of which couldn’t possibly have been predicted (such as the loss of two different hard drives containing adventure data on them in totally unrelated incidents), we have long passed the expected release date for Season 2 without Season 1 even having come out. The good news is that as of now, Season 1 is in a playable state and should be released at the start of September. Future updates will address some remaining issues with the modules and add back content that was cut for time; POD versions may eventually become available pending the resolution of the current uncertainty over international shipping costs.

However, this process has exposed some key flaws with the seasonal release schedule. Both Sudden Interventions and St. Vincent’s Maw were completed a while ago (minus some outstanding art, which had always intended to be filled in via an update after release), but due to the intended simultaneous release they were held back until The New Breed was in a state appropriate for release. At the same time, work on other planned 4e products stalled.

Given these issues, a decision has been made to abandon the seasonal release format. Strictly speaking, there will be a Season 1, but there will be no Season 2. This does not mean that any of the adventures planned for Season 2 will be scrapped—Sharpening Talons, The Paxton Gambit, and Forged Alliance are all still in development (Forged Alliance may in fact become multiple adventures given the sheer scope). However, they will be individually released when they are complete, rather than all at once as part of a season. This will occur in parallel with work on our first major rules and storyline expansion as well as the long-awaited appearance of New Jerusalem in the RPG, which were previously being delayed to come out after the adventures.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
