Bringing the RPG to Blitz

Hey everyone, Prof9844 here with another RPG article. This time we are going to tackle how to convert your 4th edition RPG character for use in a game of Heavy Gear Blitz.

This process is the official process for doing so. Normally we would want this in the book, but space requirements prevented us from doing that. Also, this does NOT recreate blitz vehicles exactly. If you were to put say a Visigoth through this process it comes out at PI 5+ instead of 6+. This is a quirk of the system and you can adjust if this is of concern.

The goal of this is to convert player characters instead of just stock NPCs. This is also NOT part of regular Blitz Extended Content and is best used in narrative play only games. It can also be used on a few of the unique vehicles to be found in the RPG.

Anyway, on to the process.

Blitz Conversion

  1. Convert all equipment/weapons on your vehicle to the Blitz equivalent. Any equipment not listed does not convert to Blitz. The table is at the end of the article

  2. Remove the TV of any equipment/weapons that were not converted. Your Blitz TV is the remaining TV.

  3. The base Actions stat in blitz is equal to the number of crewmen required for the vehicle.

  4. Take the final GU and PI modifiers of your RPG character and convert using the adjacent table.

  5. Repeat step 4 for EW but treat the number as if it was 1 point worse. So, a +0 equates to a 5+ instead of a 4+.

  6. Convert your vehicle’s Hull Integrity according to the adjacent table.

  7. Add together the levels of your single most appropriate skills for gunnery, piloting and EW/Comms. If the total of these three skill levels is 12 or more, gain the Vet trait and add +4TV

  8. Halve, rounding up the final TV of the vehicle. This is the final Blitz TV.
