Green Mamba

The aftermath of the War of the Alliance resulted in many new projects and initiatives in the AST. One major area of development was dedicated stealth gear, of which the south was lacking compared to the north. This produced the Chameleon and Snakeye Black Mamba which are both high end models. Demand for stealth units quickly outstripped production capacity and allotted funding as the many elite and special operations units of the AST wanted these new models to fill their ranks. Territorial Arms, seeing a potential niche in a new market, created the Green Mamba which saw its first major combat debut in the Interpolar War.

The Green Mamba is very similar to the Snakeye however it exchanges some more expensive and hard to produce components for more economical versions. Lower quality batteries, with an emphasis on endurance were swapped in, and the laser weaponry is replaced with regular ordinance. The result has much of the same performance characteristics but with modest weaponry. An unexpected advantage of this new gear was its ability to operate for longer periods, independent of supply lines, which has made it very popular in some groups. The SRID and Legion Noire both make extensive use of the Green Mamba and achieved excellent results against CEF forces during Operation Icarus, the SR Civil War and the cycles leading up to the new CEF invasion.

Field reports from pilots and commanders were positive but called for expansion of the Green Mamba’s limited weapon options. Territorial Arms did not pursue these requests initially but the CEF invasion, and corresponding effect on supplies and manufacturing, has changed that. With easier to produce weapons and components, production of the Green Mamba is easier and faster to meet demand. Territorial Arms now provides the Green Mamba with a much expanded arsenal directly from the factory. The Green Mamba has taken a prominent role in southern special operations because of this.
