Heavy Gear RPG Kickstarter Wrap Up!

I honestly don’t really know what to say. We are completely blown away by the support you have given us to see the 4th Edition come to life. In total the Kickstarter raised over $100,000 CAD which unlocked a bunch of adventure modules, an artbook and GM screen. I just want to take this opportunity to talk about what comes next.

First off, is the timeline. This week Kickstarter will be processing and collecting pledges. Please check to ensure your pledge was paid and, if not, that needs to be sorted ASAP. The fact that Dream Pod 9 is in Canada can cause issues with some payment cards. Aside from that usually the errors are incorrect information or out of date information. These can be sorted out quickly and you won’t lose any of your selected rewards. Once this is done, we will do our final internal processing to determine exactly what our final art budget is.

There is not going to be a general pledge manager, quite simply it’s not needed. We kept the Kickstarter very lean and, aside from collecting shipping costs and addresses, there is nothing a pledge manager needs to do. If you would like to add something to your pledge, you can email rdubois@dp9.com and request things be added.

That, of course, brings up the most significant add on, the canon characters. Once payments are processed (RE, next week) we will start contacting people for information on their canon characters. We will be asking questions like the ones below for the needed information.

  1. What is your character’s name?

  2. What planet does your character come from?

  3. What nation, league, tribe or equivalent is your character from? If you chose a planet that does not have a “Life On…” book, leave this blank.

  4. Is your character a part of any other organizations?

  5. What does your character look like? Feel free to refer to real world examples.

*On this one we are going to try and support a jpeg, jpg or png file option too*

  1. Characters may appear in character portraits, full body shots or as part of an action piece. Heavy Gear art generally has a PG-13 rating in terms of how it’s presented. This means things like blood and gore and other potentially problematic content is not going to be represented. Is there anything you would prefer your character not to be represented with or as part of?

A note with those characters, we do have veto ability if something is not consistent or reasonable within the universe. References to other IPs, real world people or organizations etc are all not acceptable.

Anyway back to the timeline. The art is in progress even now. Currently we have 6 artists signed up to work with us and most of them are already working.

Preview rules are also coming once the payments are all processed. You may even see some new art in them…..

Cheers everyone and again, THANK YOU. You have no idea how much it means to see this level of support for a project we have been working on for years now.
